The series was written by Moon Hee-jung, who previously wrote The Final Scandal of My Life and Tin You Hear My Heart. Director Lee Jae-dong previously helmed Can't Lose and Thanks.
Teenage actors Yeo Jin-goo and Kim So-hyun were first cast every bit the younger versions of the leading characters, and they appeared in the first four episodes.
